Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is one of the most successful stars in the Hindi film industry. He acted in over 100 films and won several awards including two National Film Awards and two Filmfare Awards. Kumar is also one of the highest paid actors in the industry.
Despite entertaining for almost three decades, he is often criticized for his Canadian citizenship and the issue is usually brought up when Akshay promotes national causes. Now he was asked about his Canadian citizenship once again, but this time he shared an update about his Indian passport.
On the final day of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2019, Akshay Kumar promised to apply for an Indian passport soon. Now three years later, the Hindustan Times revealed that on the last day of the Leadership Summit 2022, he had applied for a passport as promised, but COVID delayed the process.
“Having a Canadian passport does not mean I am less than an Indian. I am very Indian. I have been here for the last nine years when I got my passport. And I don’t want to know why, my films are not working, blah blah blah, chalo wo theek hai,” said Khiladi Kumar.
“Yes, I said in 2019, I applied for it. Then Uske Bad epidemic stopped. Uske 2-2.5 Sal Sub Kutch Band Hogaya. Give up ka abhi mera lekha agaya hai. Main kya karu, maine thodi pandemic laya hai,” added Akshay Kumar.
Another criticism that Akshay has taken head on is how people troll him for taking up so many projects in a year. He said that he did not understand why the problem had arisen. I do four films a year. Yes, I do. I will definitely advertise. I work, I don’t steal from anyone. I don’t understand. People ask me why do you get up early? But, to wake up in the morning, right? I don’t understand what I am doing wrong. I will work. If you want, I will give you 50 days, if you want, I will give you 90 days.
