Filmmaker Karan Johar is back as a director with Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles, who were previously seen in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy. The film also stars Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi in lead roles. The film maker has announced a new release date. Karan said on social media on Saturday that the film will release on April 28, 2023.
In a special note on Instagram, Karan wrote, “After 7 years, it’s time for me to return to my first home – cinemas. I have had the honor of working with not just one, but many leading actors on the sets of my film. A sense of family nostalgia of an ensemble cast, creating music that steals hearts and a story that runs deep to the roots of our family traditions. It’s that time again – to huddle with your family and friends, buy some popcorn, and simply unleash love & fun on the big screen. We are stoked and impatient to finally announce… Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani will hit the theaters on 28th April 2023.”
In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Karan Johar named his next director as ‘Joyous’. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “This film is a joyous film, in my opinion, I hope everyone will believe it. I feel very privileged to work with Ranveer and Alia as well as Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi and Dharmendra. We have an amazing cast from Kolkata as well. We have Churni Ganguly and Thota Roy Choudhary. I have worked with Aamir Bashir, Kshithi Jog and actress Anjali Anand. We have a very interesting new cast and it’s a huge ensemble, family love story. It has all the elements that I love to see and always have as part of my films. Songs and Dances – It’s a festive film and of course I can’t wait for everyone to enter the world of Rakhi Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.
Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani starring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi is set to release in 2023. The filmmaker is also planning to direct an action entertainer, hoping to start shooting in April 2023.
